Let’s talk booth setups - because the way I set up for a quick outdoor market vs. a big indoor show is VERY different, and both are intentional. After years of vending markets (and learning a lot of things the hard way), I’ve realized there’s no such thing as a one-size-fits-all booth. Different shows call for different strategies!
So today I’m breaking down my two booth setups, why I use both, and how I decide which one to bring.
Why I have two booth setups
Some markets are quick, outdoors, crowded, and weather-dependent… and some are indoor shows where shoppers are strolling and spending time. If I brought my full setup to every event I would burn out instantly. 😂
Having two booth options helps me stay flexible, prepared, and still keep everything looking cute and on-brand.
Setup #1: The quick + clean booth (my outdoor/simple setup)
This is my “get in, set up, sell” booth. It’s simple, tidy, efficient, and perfect for street fairs or quick load-ins.
What it usually includes:
-
Standard 10x10 tent + weights (non-negotiable)
-
1–2 tables with tablecloths
-
A few shelves for height
-
Baskets/bins to keep things organized
-
Simple signage with pricing
-
Shopify reader + battery pack
-
My market kit essentials (cash, gum, sunglasses, etc.)
This setup is fast, easy to manage, and works really well when you don’t have much space behind your booth or the crowd is packed in.

Setup #2: The full Porter Lee’s pop-up shop (my big indoor setup)
This is the one where I get to be extra. 😌✨
It takes longer and has a lot more structure, but it creates more of a “shopping experience” and people LOVE it. This setup is best for indoor shows, multi-day markets, and events where booth design makes a big difference!!
What it includes:
-
Vertical displays (that flat pack to fit in my car)
-
Checkout stand that doubles for product demos
-
Clear product categories so it’s easy to browse
-
Bigger signage/branding moments
-
Deeper inventory + more print options
- Shopping baskets
This setup helps customers take their time, shop longer, and really see the brand (not just the products).
How I decide which setup to bring
Before every show I ask myself:
-
How much setup time do I have?
-
Indoor or outdoor?
-
How crowded will it be?
-
How long is the show?
-
What’s the vibe of the event?
If it’s quick, outdoors, or a single day… I’m going simple. If it’s indoor, curated, or multi-day… the full pop-up shop comes out!

You don’t need one “perfect booth setup.” It’s totally okay (and honestly smart) to have different options depending on the market.
Start with what works, build your setup over time, and make choices that support your energy because vending is a lot, and your booth should help you succeed, not stress you out!!
